ES: My art is loud and huge, unapologetic and unrefined. I produce, to choose up place, and represent many others like me. I feel that art is extra than a creative outlet. GB: You two are fairly the dynamic duo! How did you meet?

ES: When I was a kid I was normally experimenting and I had a great deal of fun producing art out of founding goods. I commenced making with far more intention in significant school. Creating art was a interest for me for a long time, but I didn’t take into account myself an artist or think I could make it a profession until finally the very last couple of yrs. GB: What are your preferred mediums?

CA: I like to refer to myself as a “Hobby Hopper”. I consider different forms of mediums often, just to encounter new things. I love to get crafty and make artwork with my fingers. CA: I usually feel to have a home renovation challenge or program to redecorate some thing, which keeps me really hectic. I also adore the outside: hiking, kayaking, and having my 2 dogs up to the mountain trails. Utah is the Finest for exploring. 


GB: Do you have a preferred challenge or series that you have labored on?

ES: I’m seriously proud of the artwork displays I’ve curated. The most recent display was “The Beat of Our Blood” which was an show showcasing only BIPOC artists. I developed a blended media portray for the show titled “She Becomes”. The subject matter of the painting is a panther woman and it is my recent favored.

CA: The Obtained Beauty Summer time Pride window is my new favored! It was so exciting to collaborate with Essie and the amazing gals of Got Attractiveness to make anything with so much indicating and objective, but which is also just so really to search at. Really like is enjoy! 

GB: So, what is next for every single of you?

ES: I am now doing work on a solo show titled “The fireplace in her eyes.” This exhibit as a total is intended to be a commentary about the methods in which colorism, texturism, and internalized racism in the black community have been closely affected by Eurocentric standards of beauty. Some pieces will be visible translations of my lived activities as a Black female in the United States. Other items will highlight the toughness, and sensuality of the black female kind even though checking out themes of sexuality, gender expression, and self-acceptance. The display is tentatively set for November 2022. 

CA: I’m dying to go more substantial and bolder with photo shoot staging! I have so several thoughts in my head of what I’d like to do. Elopement shoots, stylized bridal, life-style shots… And at some point, the aspiration is to produce visual is effective of art for firms to use in displays and promotion.
